What is the Ordeal
The Ordeal is a vital part of the Induction Process into the Order of the Arrow. The Ordeal provides time for a Scout to reflect upon his/hers experiences within Scouting and hopefully broaden them, making them firmer and their love for Scouting greater.
The weekend will be filled with many activities, all of which are safe and supervised. There are hundreds of thousands of OA members, all of which have participated in an Ordeal. The Ordeal experience is an experience that no Scout will ever forget because of the honor that has been bestowed upon him by being inducted into the Order of the Arrow.
Registration will begin promptly at 6:00 PM and will continue until approximately 8:00 PM. Please arrive promptly, as tardiness will delay the activities of the weekend. If you know that you will be late and cannot make it to camp by 8:00 PM, please contact The Vice Chief of Inductions ( VCI@Wahissa.org )
The weekend will conclude at 10:00 AM on Sunday. Parents should pick up their Scout at the Dining Hall or at the respective Chapter Campsite.
What is the Event Itself
During this event people who are already members of the Order of the Arrow can serve as guides to those going through their ordeal. This is a great time for their member to remember what it was like to go through their own experience of the ordeal.
Their will be two ceremonies during this weekend. The Pre-Ordeal and Ordeal ceremony. The candidate will participate in the ceremony while already current members of the OA will watch.
After the service of the weekend we have a celebration. There will be a big dinner for everyone to enjoy as well as Games and Activities put on by our Event Planning Team.
This year the two ordeal events will have the theme of a Halloween Night since these events take place near Halloween. It will be called “Festival of Fears” (Family Friendly). Their will be a Halloween themed party including many different games, good food to eat, and best of all a Haunted Hay Ride and Trail!
We hope to see you their.
